Published on October 17, 2025

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a perfect time to refresh your online safety habits. Cyber threats are constantly evolving, from phishing emails and suspicious links to identity theft attempts. Staying vigilant helps protect your personal and financial information all year long.

At TEG Federal Credit Union, your security is our top priority. Here’s how you can stay safe online and in your daily digital activities.

🔒Top Cybersecurity Tips for Members

  • Use strong, unique passwords for each account to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Consider using password management software to securely store and organize your passwords, it’s safer than writing them down or reusing the same one.
  • Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) wherever available for protection.
  • Think before you click on emails, links, or attachments from unknown sources.
  • Keep your devices and software updated to reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Back up important data regularly to secure cloud storage or an external drive.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it probably is.

🚨 Protect Your Sensitive Information

TEG will never ask for:

  • Account number
  • Online banking password
  • PIN
  • Social Security number
  • One-time passcodes or verification codes
  • Any other sensitive information over email, text, or unsolicited phone calls

Even is a message appears to come from TEG, do not share personal or account information unless you initiated contact using our official number or website.

If you encounter suspicious activity:

  • Hand up or ignore the message
  • Do not provide any sensitive information
  • Report it immediately to TEGFCU at 845.452.7323 or visit your local branch

🔎 Stay Vigilant and Informed

  • Report suspicious messages to TEGFCU immediately.
  • Check trusted resources like the Federal Trade Commission for current scam alerts.
  • Regularly review your account activity for anything unusual.

Cybersecurity is about forming safe habits every day. Following these tips, especially using password management software and MFA, helps protect your information, prevents fraud, and gives you peace of mind online.

Together, we can stay cyber-smart and secure all year long!
