Info about COVID-19

TEGFCU is committed to safeguarding the health of our members, staff, and volunteers.

As we monitor the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we want to keep you apprised of our actions and policies to keep you protected.

COVID-19, aka Coronavirus, is a respiratory illness that was initially identified in Wuhan, China, and has now been detected in over 50 locations around the world, including the United States.

TEGFCU is following the guidance from New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control recommendations to prevent exposure to the virus by both our members and staff.

You can expect to see staff cleaning frequently touched surfaces more often, including doorknobs, phones, handrails, and counters throughout all our facilities. Also, we will be limiting physical contact with each other and our members. Our typical greeting with a handshake will not be extended until the virus in under control, and the official recommendations are updated.

Additionally, many of our members are choosing to use Digital Banking and our Call Center in place of coming into the branch.

What can you do
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
• Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.

•CDC does not recommend that people wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
•Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. People who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility) should also wear a facemask.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom: before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

•If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
